316L Stainless Steel
Corrosion-resistant steel for medical, chemical, and structural applications.
316L austenitic stainless steel is the standard material for SLM parts requiring corrosion resistance, biocompatibility (with appropriate surface finish), and high strength. The low-carbon "L" grade minimises sensitisation during the SLM thermal cycle. Compared to AlSi10Mg, 316L is denser and heavier but significantly stronger in terms of yield strength and corrosion resistance.
