What is Photogrammetry?
Photogrammetry is a high-resolution 3D reconstruction process that uses hundreds of overlapping photographic images to generate textured 3D meshes with accurate geometry and photorealistic surface detail. Unlike structured light or laser scanning, it captures colour and material appearance simultaneously — making it the method of choice for production-grade visual assets.
Modern photogrammetry software (Agisoft Metashape, RealityCapture, Colmap) uses computer vision algorithms to locate every camera precisely in 3D space, then fuse depth information across millions of image pairs into a dense volumetric point cloud — from which surface mesh and PBR textures are derived.

Process
Our Reality Capture Pipeline
Eight reproducible stages from initial planning to final packaged delivery, each with defined quality checkpoints and a handoff verification step.
Planning & Scene Preparation
Coverage maps, lighting assessment, ground control point placement, and camera parameter selection optimised for subject type.
Image Capture
Structured multi-pass photography from ground rigs or drone platforms. Minimum 80% overlap enforced. RAW format for full dynamic range.
Alignment & Sparse Cloud
Feature detection and matching (SIFT/AKAZE) across all images. Camera positions solved. Sparse 3D point cloud generated.
Dense Reconstruction
Multi-view stereo (MVS) at full or half image resolution. Millions of depth samples per image fused into a dense point cloud.
Mesh Generation
Poisson or volumetric surface reconstruction. Watertight mesh with configurable polygon budget from 50K to 50M+ triangles.
Texture Baking
Orthorectified colour projection onto UV-unwrapped geometry. PBR separation: Albedo, Normal, Roughness, AO, Displacement maps.
Optimisation for Engine / Production
Retopology, LOD generation, atlas packing, and engine-specific export settings for Unreal, Unity, Houdini, or offline renderers.
Final Asset Delivery
Packaged delivery via secure transfer. OBJ / FBX / USD / glTF formats. Coordinate-referenced with project documentation included.
Output
Production-Ready Deliverables
Every project ships with a complete asset package. Format selection and optimisation profile agreed during brief review.
High-Resolution Textured Mesh
Polygon-dense surface with baked colour texture. Configurable triangle count from 500K to 50M+. Watertight or open-boundary options.
PBR Texture Map Set
Albedo, Normal (tangent-space), Roughness, Metallic, Ambient Occlusion, and Displacement maps. EXR for linear-light pipelines.
Clean Retopologised Model
Artist-retopologised mesh with clean edge flow for animation, deformation, or subdivision. Suitable for rigging and VFX workflows.
Engine-Ready Asset
Nanite-compatible or LOD-set assets. Material instances, collision meshes, and import settings pre-configured per target engine.
Georeferenced Point Cloud
Coordinate-referenced dense point cloud for outdoor scans. Compatible with ReCap, CloudCompare, Metashape, and GIS workflows.
Project Documentation
Capture parameters, image count, GCP coordinates, accuracy report, and software version log. Included with every delivery.

Drone-Based AerialPhotogrammetry
When the subject exceeds the reach of ground-based rigs, our drone fleet extends coverage to entire buildings, city blocks, and landscapes. Drone photogrammetry produces the same photo-real, textured 3D output as studio capture — at a scale that no other method can match economically.
Aerial passes are planned in Agisoft Metashape / DJI Pilot using automated flight grids and oblique capture patterns. RTK GPS ensures sub-centimetre ground control accuracy where GCPs are deployed.
Large-Environment Reconstruction
Terrain, forests, coastlines, and urban areas up to 10 km² in a single project.
Façade & Building Capture
Oblique + nadir hybrid passes cover all elevations of multi-storey structures without scaffolding.
Digital Twin Generation
Georeferenced output aligns with BIM models, GIS layers, and site survey data for full digital twin integration.
